Our flat-knit products are custom made to a specific millimeter to fit each patient and their unique shape.
What flat-knit material is best for a patient?
Custom flat-knit garments are primarily used during the maintenance phase of the lymphedema treatment process when patients have transitioned from the reduction phase to a stable volume level. When making a garment selection, a clinician must consider the following therapeutic needs of the individual patient:
- Level of containment – the more robust or stiff the material, the more containment
- Patient activity – some materials and features allow for more freedom of motion during activity
- Application needs – making good style selections can influence patient compliance
From the strongest reliable hold to a lighter more discreet option, mediven has options for both lower and upper extremity needs, for primary and secondary lymphedema up to stage 3, and up to lipedema stage 3.
